IMSD: Initiative for Maximizing Student Development

The IMSD Scholars program at Washington University in St. Louis is designed to train the next generation of leaders in the biomedical sciences from diverse groups and empower them to complete their PhD degrees and enter various careers in the biosciences.

The comprehensive activities of IMSD include:

• Pre-Matriculation Bootcamp

• First-year Course Help Sessions

• Annual IMSD symposium

• Group, Individual, and Peer Mentoring

• Career shadowing and preparation

• And much more!

Selection Criteria

We utilize the application system provided through the DBBS website. To ensure your consideration for the IMSD program you must:

• Apply to the DBBS graduate programs online (dbbs.wustl.edu)

• Indicate your interest in the IMSD program

• Have very strong letters of recommendation

• Be a US citizen or Permanent Resident

• Self-identify as an underrepresented student (ethnic minority, socioeconomically disadvantaged, and/or learning/physically disabled)

• Demonstrate interest in programs that promote diversity
